Falköping (Swedish pronunciation:[ˈfalɕøːpɪŋ]) is a locality and the seat of Falköping Municipality in Västra Götaland County, Sweden. It had 16, inhabitants in [1]

History

The town of Falköping was first spoken of in the Icelandic Rimbegla (around A.D.), and is mentioned in the Westrogothic law. It was also an important site of pilgrimage due to its 12th-century church dedicated to Saint Olaf (Sankt Olofs kyrka). The town was heading for a shut-down during the 16th century and was even burnt to the ground by the Danish during the Northern Seven Years' War. However the town survived and was rebuilt.[2]

Falköping or Falbygden (when meaning the agricultural landscape in which Falköping is located) is widely known for its ancient remains of Stone Age, Bronze Age and Iron Age. The town is located between the two plateausMösseberg and Ålleberg. The location has been inhabited since the end of the ice age and cultivated by people for the last years.     Falköpings Fotbollsklubb är en fotbollsklubb i Falköping som bildades då de lokala föreningarna BK Rapid, Falköpings AIK och Falköpings BK valde att gå samman i en gemensam förening under namnet F/F/R (FAIK/FBK/Rapid). Det var först ett år senare, , som namnet Falköpings FK antogs. Föreningen har sedan starten haft en fin ungdomsverksamhet som bland annat har fostrat Jonas Lindberg, Stefan Takac och [1](allsvensk i Västra Frölunda IF). Föreningen har alltid bedrivit verksamhet för pojkar och herrar men har också under perioder haft såväl flick- som damlag. I dagsläget () har föreningen ingen renodlad flick- eller damverksamhet men i de yngsta ungdomslagen finns såväl flickor som pojkar.

    Seniorverksamheten bedrivs på den kommunala idrottsarenan Odenplan som man delar med damfotbollsföreningen Falköpings KIK och lokalrivalen IFK Falköping. Föreni

    Falköpings Fotbollsklubb was founded in when the local clubs BK Rapid, Falköpings AIK, and Falköpings BK chose to merge into a single club under the name F/F/R (FAIK/FBK/Rapid). It wasn't until a year later, in , that the name Falköpings FK was adopted. Since its inception, the club has had a decent ungdom development schema that has produced players such as Jonas Lindberg and Stefan Takac (who played in Allsvenskan for Västra Frölunda IF). The club has always operated teams for boys and men, but has also, at times, had girls' and women's teams. Currently (), the club does not have a dedicated girls' or women's section, but both girls and boys participate in the youngest ungdom teams.

    The senior teams play at the municipal sports arena, Odenplan, which is shared with the women's football club Falköpings KIK and local rival IFK Falköping.
